Author Guidelines

Guidelines for authors

Nature of the works

The contributions received for possible publication must be original results derived from a high-level academic work or medical practice in the sphere of neurological nursing.

Non-simultaneous submission

The works submitted must be unpublished and the authors undertake not to simultaneously submit them to other publications, so it is necessary to attach the Declaration of originality.

Extension and format

The full articles (title, authors, ascriptions, abstracts, body of article, captions and references) must be doubled spaced, in letter-size paper (21.5 x 28 cm) and 2.5-cm margins, Arial 12. Original articles and clinical cases will have a maximum extension of 20 pages; review articles, 20 as well. The standard page contains 30 lines, 60 characters each (1800 characters per page). Words in another language must be written in italics. Any word processor, including charts is accepted (PDF will not be accepted). Abbreviations are accepted, however they must be preceded by their meaning the first time they are used, and those of international measurement units adopted by the Mexican government.

Anonymity in the authors’ identities

The articles must include neither in the body of the article nor in footnotes any information that discloses the authors’ identities; this with a view to ensuring an anonymous review by the academic peers who carry out the review. After the possible acceptance of the collaboration, all the identification information will be included in the front page.

Elaboration of references

Use of electronic reference management software

Priority will be given to contributions that deliver references standardized by means of a reference management software such as: Zotero, Bibme, Reference Manager, RefWorks, EndNote, Mendeley or any other compatible with scientific-medical edition.

DOI for references

Where applicable —particularly for references to electronic documents— the corresponding DOI has to be provided.

Vancouver citation style

Vancouver citation style will be used. References will be ordered and numbered in their order of appearance in the text, with the corresponding indication as a superscript (no parentheses, spaces, separated by commas and hyphens in the case of more two consecutive). They will be copy-pasted as they appear in the cited source, which is: author(s), article title, name of the journal, year, period, volume, number, pages and DOI (when applicable). If the publication has up to 6 authors, they all have to be included and separated by commas. If there are more authors, after the sixth and after a comma, the rest of the authors will be indicated as: at al. (which means “and others”). If the authors are from the Anglosphere, they will be accounted by their last element; for example: Harrison S. Murray will be entered: Murray HS.

The journals must be cited with their title abbreviated in accordance with the catalogue by the National Library of Medicine (NLM). Go to Pubmed: (Journals in NCBI Databases) http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/nlmcatalog/journals, in order to find the abbreviation.
