Most frequent musculoskeletal symptoms in nursing professionals in a Second Level Hospital

Introduction: musculoskeletal disorders are defined as health problems associated with the locomotor system, induced by the work that is performed and the conditions in which it is exercised, its main symptomatology is pain, numbness, stiffness, tingling, inflammation and/or loss of forcé. The Nursing Professional (NP) carries out activities in the workplace that directly influence its appearance.
Objetive: know which are the most common musculoskeletal symptoms in the nursing professional (NP) in a second level hospital.
Material and methods: study observational, descriptive, prospective, cross-sectional, the sample was from 220 nursing professional, of both sexes, of any service, base or contract, who performed care functions. The Nordic Questionnaire was used to gather the information.
Results: the 80.9% were women, 50% aged between 20 and 39, 88.2% showed symptomatology over the past 12 months, 76% showed sympromatology in the last 7 days, the most affected anatomical regions were neck (41.3%), lower back (40.9%), knees (37.8%), the highest frequency of musculoskeletal symptomatology presented itself in the morning shift with 26%.
Conclusions: a significant percentage of nursing professionals manifested musculoskeletal symptomatology, which comes to interfere with the realization of normal activities.
