Spiritual perspective of the nursing staff of the Intensive Care Units.in a second level hospital.

Introduction: Spirituality is understood as a basic internal guidance system for human wellbeing that influences life, behavior and health, regardless of beliefs or the religious practices of the person. Objective: know the spiritual perspective that nurses have in Intensive Care Units (ICU) in a second level hospital. Material and methods: Observational, descriptive, prospective, cross-sectional study. Sample composed of 82 nurses of the morning, evening and night shifts of the ICUs. The Spiritual Perspective Scale was used. Results: The levels of spiritual well-being that the staff under study presented were: a high level. In the morning shift, the high (36,4%) and moderate (36,4%) levels prevailed, the evening with a moderate level (50%) and in night shifts A and B high level with 40,7% and 5,9%, respectively. Conclusions: Spirituality is an element that nursing professionals do not need only to take care of themselves, but to take care of the other. By having nursing staff within the ICUs with high spiritual wellbeing, having professionals mostly committed to their work, a better work environment and better patient care.
